Today was mostly a prep and relax day. We started by getting our climbing gear ready to be sent to base camp by plan today. That meant packing all the gear we will need for after base camp into one duffle, while we keep the rest for the trekking part.
Then we were on our way to visit two temples. An Hindu one and a buddhist one. I had already seen both before but it is always a nice sight. I enjoyed both visits and got to know the rest of the team better along the way.
The Hindu sight is a one of the holy cremation site that all Hindu folks must visit at least once in their life or when one of their family members passes away. It is hard to describe and appreciate the experience through only pictures as all senses are triggered by this moment. It is hard to convey the smells, the noises, songs that make the full experience... One has to be there and live it to really appreciate it. It is part of the unique magic of Katmandu.
The next site is also known as Little Tibet as it is a gathering of all the buddhist Tibetain monks who have fled Tibet after the Chinese invasion. We got to visit one of the art school as well asa couple of temples
After lunch, I took a couple of folks on a walk tour of Thamel and towards Durbar square which is another world heritage site of very ancients temples and government buildings. Mike and his girlfriend got to practice their negotiation technique which I might have helped a little.
The team is gelling well and folks chose to have diner together tonight even though it was a free afternoon and night when everyone could have done their own thing. The team chose to stay together for the evening which is a great sign. I unfortunately had to leave the dinner early due to an upset stomach. Hopefully just some small food poisoning from today's lunch and not a gastro type bug.... Hoping for a good night of sleep because tomorrow we are meeting at 5:45 AM to hopefully fly to Luklha...
Oh no!! Swift recovery for tomorrow x
