Welcome back friends to my adventure blogs.
This one is not one of 7 summits, but it is a majestic one.
Known and recognized amongst the climbers' community as possibly the most beautiful mountain in the world.
It has attracted me for over a decade. It was supposed to be the mountain my friend David and I had set our eyes on to climb back in 2019. But instead we got allured to climb Everest that year.
But it never left my mind since. I wanted to climb it because it is a majestic line and a challenging one. And that moment has finally come.
It stands at 6,812 meters or 22,349ft. Not the tallest by far, but a more technical climb than my previous Cho Oyu or Everest adventures. This one contains some steep vertical rock climbing section above 6000m et some very steep ice vertical slope on the final summit push.
I actually had to train much harder for than one than Everest even. I had to get stronger overall, I had to be leaner, lighter but also build more upper body muscle mass.
So how do you get to the bottom of this hill...
Like with Everest you fly to Kathmandu (Nepal), and then take a smaller plane to Lukhla airport, that famous challenging airport with a short runway that end with a mountain wall. And then you hike towards Everest base camp (EBC). But you don't go all the way to EBC. About 4 ways in you turn right towards the Ama Dablam base camp.
I am so excited to trek the EBC trail again. It is such a serene and spiritual valley that I couldn't wait to go back to.
I am told that the wifi is actually pretty decent at Ama Dablam base camp so I will hopefully be able to post some update to you my friends from there.
Next update I will provide more info on the itinerary, the route challenges and of course I will provide the Satellite GPS tracking page and other logistical information.
I leave on October 17th. It's coming soon...
Wow! What an adventure…. And 17th October is just around the corner !
Very exciting, Thierry! Best of luck to you. I'll be following along on your great adventure.
